Abstract
Decreases in thermal conductivity of tungsten in the neutron-producing target in the ISIS First Target Station due to proton-beam-induced radiation damage have been measured by analysing data in automatically recorded databases of ISIS machine parameters. The analysis is based on measurements of target plate temperature decay rates when the proton beam irradiating the target is suddenly switched off. Results presented in this report extend the range of the first measurements of tungsten thermal conductivity made on an operational spallation neutron target published previously.
