Microstructural study of Joule heated nanocrystalline alloys using in situ neutron diffraction

Abstract
The Joule heating is used to obtain different degrees of crystallisation in Fe87Zr6Cu1B6 and Fe91Zr7B2. Neutron diffraction experiments have been performed on a single ribbon to follow the nanocrystallisation under the same conditions. Hysteresis loops show the evolution of the saturation magnetisation and coercive field. The size of the crystallites remains 10-15 nm, which is smaller than in samples nanocrystallised by treatment in furnaces.
