Title Survey of HPC Performance Modelling and Prediction Tools
Contributors
Abstract Parallel and distributed computing systems are designed with performance in mind. Significant past research effort has been invested in the developing approaches for performance modelling and prediction of applications running on HPC systems. This report compares some tools for realistically modelling and predicting computer performance for a range of architectures and applications. We consider current activity worldwide which embraces a range of approaches from high level mathematical modelling to instruction level simulation. The different approaches are contrasted and three tools chosen for further evaluation.
