Abstract
The proposal can be summarised as follows: 1. The station would be run in energy-dispersive mode with minimal or zero pre-sample X-ray optics (i.e. no monochromator/focussing optics); 2. The station would house state-of-the-art diamond anvil cell (DAC) and multi-anvil press (MAP) high pressure devices; 3. The project would, in particular, concentrate on developing combined high pressure plus high/low temperature devices; 4. The station would also house a state-of-the-art system for studying the kinetics of rapid transformations; 5. The overall project would be consortium-led in collaboration with Daresbury Laboratory (DL).
